In Accompa, the phrase "Generate Baseline" is used to mean:

• Take a snapshot now of all items in the baseline

You can generate a baseline by clicking the "Generate Baseline Now" button you see when adding/editing a baseline. When you do so, a snapshot of all items are taken and their version numbers are recorded.

Once you generate a baseline - you cannot add, edit, delete or rearrange items in that baseline. Neither can you update their version numbers. Thus "generating" a baseline takes a snapshot and freezes the items with version numbers at that instant.
