What does "Password History" mean, and how does it work?

 Print This

"Password History" works as follows:

  • You can set Accompa to remember the "past N" passwords of each user.
  • Accompa will then automatically remember the history of "N" passwords for each user on your Accompa system.
  • Each user will then be prevented from choosing a new password that is identical to a password in that user's password history.

You can define the "Password History" policy for your Accompa system by following these steps:

  1. Login using an account that has 'Administrator' privileges.
  2. Click Settings on the top-right, and select Security Controls from the menu.
  3. In the resulting page, click  Define password policy link.
  4. In the page that appears, select desired value from  Enforce password history picklist.
  5. Click the "Save" button.
